Releasing on cassette here in the States via Wave Guardian with Pt II releasing in Greece on compact disc via Tilt, Pt I features 8 tracks dealing with gravity and its relation to the “heavenly” bodies outside our atmosphere. It is a sonic journey through the internal and external void of mind and matter that takes you full circle.
‘This is the result of a few night sessions in my home studio, in 2024, with the soma cosmos pedal, behringer k-2 and mfb nanozwerg synth. More of a presence than a concept, what somehow shaped these sound wanderings, was gravity.
Gravity is the most known and directly experienced force of the four fundamental ones. And yet it’s also the more mysterious and difficult to integrate in the existing theories and models. Every attempt for a unified field theory, or theory of everything, a theory that will explain the universe in its entity, has failed again and again because of gravity. Recently, the scientific community was obsessed with the Higgs particle, or particle of god, and the experiments in CERN promised to reveal it and thus officially establish science as the new religion. The Higgs boson was finally discovered in 2012, amidst great enthusiasm and even greater arrogance; alas, if it was indeed god’s particle, it was the particle of a lesser and forgotten god. Gravity refused to be incorporated in any unified theory along with the other three fundamental forces (electromagnetism and weak and strong nuclear force) and instead of a conquered, determined universe which is the holy grail of all ideologies of control, we are still left with a vastly mysterious universe, full of wonders and more dimensions than our imagination can grasp.
In a more metaphorical sense, gravity is the connection with earth and the natural procedures; life, death, giving new life, growing old; the serenity of early winter and the reassurance of a spring to come. In a way it’s what reminds us of our bodies and biological essence – in defiance to the post-humanism doctrine of our times, where the “everything is possible”, transformed from an advertising slogan to the dominant motto of our lives.
In an era when the techno-industrial complex threatens to transform all life to millions of artificial “enhanced” versions of it, gravity is one major natural force that still refuses to be domesticated.
