Thirst is the second instalment in Mute’s comprehensive reissue campaign of the Clock DVA catalogue, expanded and remastered from the original tapes with the involvement of all surviving members. Originally released in 1981, the album follows the jazz-leaning experimentation of White Souls in Black Suits and marks a decisive shift toward a more structured, song-focused approach.

Here, Clock DVA begin shaping the colder, more accessible edge that would feed directly into the emerging darkwave and industrial scenes. Rhythms tighten, melodies sharpen, and the music takes on a club-ready physicality without losing its underlying tension.

The album includes enduring fan favourites and dancefloor staples ‘4 Hours’ and ‘Sensorium’, each reflecting this transitional moment in the group’s development. This edition also adds newly recorded versions of both tracks, made by Clock DVA as they stand in 2026, offering a contemporary counterpoint to the original recordings.

Together, these elements present Thirst as both a vital historical document and a living work, bridging the band’s early experimental phase with the sound that would define their wider influence.

Red vinyl. Features original sleeve notes by the late Genesis P. Orridge.
