Lee Morgan was just 19 and still at the start of his association with Blue Note when he recorded City Lights in 1957. Bright, confident and swinging hard, the album finds Morgan leading a sharp ensemble featuring Curtis Fuller, George Coleman, Ray Bryant, Paul Chambers and Art Taylor. Three compositions by his mentor Benny Golson anchor the set, highlighting both Morgan’s rapid development and the assured musicality that marked his earliest recordings.

Stereo Tone Poet Vinyl Edition LP produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analogue master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.
