Kalliopi Mitropoulou is an Athens based composer, songwriter, vocalist and violinist. She is the lead singer of Echo Tides and Oi Va Voi and collaborates with Pan Pan, Vassiłina and various bands and ensembles. She has worked with Erland Cooper, Yannis Aggelakas & Episkeptes and orchestras such as the Gürzenich Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Contemporary Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Greek National Opera Orchestra.
She also writes music for theatre and cinema.

“Between" is Kalliopi’s debut solo album combining her classical music background with contemporary dreamy post pop and electronic elements; she presents a collection of songs with rich orchestration and her lush voice inviting us into her world.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Mitski, Mica Levi, Mira Calix, Laurel Halo, Tirzah as well as Shostakovich and Stravinsky, “Between” is an album about the uncertainty that comes with difficult choices, the tension between self-doubt, personal growth, and finding a sense of belonging.

The well-balanced production by Nikos Veliotis weaves together string instruments, resonant ambient soundscapes with Kalliopi’s voice creating a unique atmosphere that is at once fragile and intense.

The lyrics and music capture the feeling of being stuck between two places, between the known and the unknown, between a sense of peace and the chaos of indecision.
Pain, frustration, and longing pulse through the tracks, but there are also moments of hope, clarity, and unexpected calm.
Each piece adds to Kalliopi’s world building, guided by a sense of discovery and the search for balance, ultimately leaving the listener in a space of quiet reflection.
