“Autumn Desert” is a split album featuring music from artists Agia Monaxia and Loopus et Anima.

Agia Monaxia is an ongoing collaborative experiment between Athens-based musicians Vagelis Moschos (guitars, keys, bass, production, sound design) and Ashley Hallinan (drums, bass, keys). Agia Monaxia compose music in the ambient/drone genre with a lot of elements of cinematic music.
An extremely productive project, they have been active since 2019 and have so far released three full length albums, one split album and two EP’s.
They participate in Autumn Desert with “between the branches”, a 25 minute composition influenced by artists like William Basinski, Eluvium and Stars of the Lid. Ambient soundscapes coexist with minimal melodies and atmospheric drones. All instruments and sounds used in this work fuse together in the end in what seems like an endless journey. Definitely worth listening multiple times with headphones on.

Loopus et Anima is the solo project of classical musician and composer Ilias Paschos. Using instruments like the organ, violin, violas and double bass; Ilias creates cinematic ambient soundscapes reminiscent of Philip Glass, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Brian Eno.

Melodies and repetition of these melodies are the two prominent elements the listener will find in “It leaves you again in the desert”. Classical influences become present early on in this 25 minute long composition that starts off with a majestic organ repeating a theme for almost half the song while other instruments slowly build around it.

There is a clear change of mood in the second half of the song where drone sounds take over alongside string instruments repeating bittersweet, almost epic at places melodies. A piece of work also worth listening multiple times with headphones on to experience the layers and depth presented by the artist.
