Detach was conceived and recorded during April 2020, the month of the unprecedented Covid-19 lockdown. This new and sudden social situation inspired me to play music in a way that is different from the music I normally record.
Long forms of low-frequency tones, subtle changes and new micro-sounds overlapping and replacing one another. The quiet of my neighborhood during this quarantine urged me to record the entire album using only my headphones.
During playback at low volume, I enjoyed the mix with the few sounds coming from outside my studio.. The result felt almost like a microscopic part of this social quietness.
